“Well, I’m a standin’ on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. Such a fine sight to see…”
Yep, here we are. Literally, standing on a corner in the Arizona town of Winslow. Lining up with the rest of the tourists to take that cheesy pic.
It’s a cute town, but The Eagles classic, “Take it Easy” is now one of the main reasons that people pull off the main road to visit. The famous corner boasts a red flat bed Ford, and appropriate tourist signage on the corner, with a giant ‘Route 66’ painted on the road (just in case you forget where you are).
Apparently it’s also snake dance country, but we didn’t see any snakes (thankfully), dancing, or snakes dancing on this visit.
We did, however, find a brewery on the main street that had only just opened its doors, and was still sorting out their menu and service. Hopefully they are running like clockwork now, because it looked like it had potential.
“Well, I’m a runnin’ down the road tryin’ to loosen my load…”
Being the snap happy tourist that I am, I was taking photos from every angle, ‘running down (well across) the road’ when I dropped my phone on the pavement. My cracked screen now smiles at me on a permanent basis, certainly making Winslow memorable.
Just like the song. It’s stuck in your head now, isn’t it? Sorry about that.
Take it Easy…
